Ímpeto (op. 11)

Info

The piece “Ímpeto” (“Impetus”), for two percussionists, was composed at the request of the Duo Sacramento. This work was made with the inspiration of a characteristic that I consider remarkable in the people of the sign of aries, impetuosity. Besides the honoree, Tatiane de Oliveira Gonçalves, both interpreters, Jorge and Aquim Sacramento belong to this sign. Sonically, the composition has moments of explosion and a significant color tone, thanks to a large number of instruments used. The work was premiered by the Sacramento Duo at the University of Tennessee at Martin, USA, on 04/23/2012.

In this work, the duo plays tambourine, caxixi, rattles, 2 woodblocks, 2 cowbells, 2 splash cymbals, 2 crash cymbals, 2 china cymbals, 2 ride cymbals , hihat, 2 snare drums, bass drum, high tom-tom, mid tom-tom, low tom-tom, 2 berra-bois, moringa, bodhram, tam-tam, 2 bongos, 2 congas or atabaques, bass drum, rain stick, ganzá, maracas, common chimes, 3 or more chimes (wind messenger), jawbone, crotalus.
